Trina Broadnax

Trina Yvette Broadnax quietly slipped into eternal rest on July 18, 2012, at her home in Hampton, VA.

She was born in Danville, VA, on August 19, 1968, to the late David Anthony Broadnax and Mattie Howard Evans. Trina was their only child. She was educated in the Hampton City Public School System.

Trina spent many years providing her patients with professional and excellent in-home care. She also received Christian training for many years at Morning Star Baptist Church, Hampton, VA.

Even though she didn’t always feel well, she was never too tired to cook meals, help others, and attend “everyone’s” funeral, no matter how long she was acquainted with them.

Her love for her son, Nedkwon, her grandmother, Mrs. Mary Brandon, her mother and other family members, as well as her vast number of friends, was truly her driving force in life.

She did not attend college, but she was truly a lawyer, social worker, psychiatrist, doctor, nurse, love counselor and a person who “called any situation as she saw it.” Her friends would let her have her way, even though they didn’t always agree with her, and they also knew she was not open to advice from them. These friends never stopped loving her “heart.”

Trina was preceded in death by her father, David Anthony Broadnax and his mother, Mamie Broadnax, her grandfathers, Nellis Brandon, Leroy F. Howard, Sr. and John Broadnax, her uncle, Arthur L. Gooden, and an aunt, Antricilla Howard.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her only child, Nedkwon Devante’ Broadnax; her mother and stepfather, Mattie Evans and Lloyd; grandmother, Mary Brandon; aunts, Mary Robertson (Buford), Donnire Gooden, Sheila James (Rickie), Jeannie Polk, and Bertha Pratt; uncles, Sherman Broadnax (Cathy) and Leroy Howard, Jr.; stepmothers, Clarice Broadnax and Effie Broadnax; stepsister, Felecia Dix (Mark) stepbrothers, Ronald Morst, and Chauncey Morst; godbrother, Marvin Hardy, Jr.; her “special” children Tasha, Keon and Deja Cutler; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Services for Ms. Broadnax, will held noon Monday July 23, 2012, at Ebenezer Baptist Church 171 Semple Farms Road Hampton, VA 23666 with Rev. Dr. Walter R. Dean, Pastor Officiating and Rev. Dr. Christopher C. Carter, Sr. Eulogist.

Interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, VA. Ms. Broadnax will lie in state at Ebenezer Baptist Church two hours prior to the service.

Viewing for Ms. Broadnax will be held today July 22, 2012 from 12:00 noon Until 4:00 P.M. at C. C. Carter funeral Home 3314 Roanoke Ave. Services of dignity and respect are provided by the Staff C.C.Carter Funeral Home. cccarterfuneralhome.com are Pending.
