Mack L. Sheppard

U.S. Veteran

Mack Leon Sheppard was born December 14, 1933, in the County of Darlington, South Carolina, the son of the late Charlie Sheppard and Lenora Taylor Sheppard. He was called home to be with the Lord on July 18, 2012, at Coliseum Park Nursing Home.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years, Rosa Sheppard; his three children, Maxine Cochran of Troy, NY, Charles Sheppard of Hempstead, NY, and Sylvia Michelle Chester of Hampton, VA; six grandchildren, Mack Sheppard, II, Darren Chester, Jr., Charlsey Sheppard, Dashaun Chester, Adrionne Sheppard, and Royce Sheppard; three great-grandchildren, Cherice Tayla, Dymeek Mack Sheppard, and Nevaeh Sheppard; one son-in-law, Darren Chester, Sr.; one daughter-in-law, Vicky Sheppard; four brothers-in-law, Ray Johnson, Thomas Black, Sr., Robert Black, and Chris Black; five sisters-in-law, Sarah Harewood, Hannah Jean Bonaparte, Gloria Alford, Lanora Burgess, and Barbara Black; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Mr. Sheppard may be viewed today from 12 noon to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Services for Mr. Sheppard will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, July 24, 2012 in the C. C. Carter Funeral Home Chapel, 3314 Roanoke Ave., Newport News, VA 23607, with Bishop S. L. Cutler, officiating. Interment will follow in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA. Service of dignity and respect are provided by the staff of C. C. Carter Funeral Home. cccarterfuneralhome.com
