M r. Van P. Gilmore, Mrs Helen W. Gilmore, Mr. William H. Coles, Pastor Chris C. Carter.

The Gilmore Funeral Home was established in the year of 1941, by the late Mr. Van P. & Helen Gilmore. The Gilmore’s offered funeral services to families in the East End and surrounding areas, for over forty years until Mr. Gilmore’s demise in 1983 and Mrs. Gilmore’s Demise in 1986.

Mr. William H. Coles assumed ownership of the firm in 1987. The funeral home over the years has serviced many families.

In March 2011, the establishment was transferred to Pastor Chris C. Carter, a native of the Newport News/Hampton area. Pastor Carter is the Pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church in Hampton, VA.

With the vision God has given Pastor Carter for this establishment, he plans to service families in a way that is unique to the Community.

Pastor Carter will continue with the rich legacy the Gilmore's and Mr. Coles have left.
